Following the trend, Bentley launched its first luxury SUV in 2015, going by the name of Bentayga. The name is a combination of Bentley and Taiga, the world's largest transcontinental snow forest. Styled by Bentley's EXP 9 F concept car, the Bentayga combines the company's stylish rounded lines with the roughness of an SUV. The leather upholstered interior offers room for five people and its shapes are in line with the other models in Bentley's stable. The SUV is built on the Volkswagen MLB platform, which is also used in the second-generation Audi Q7 and the 3rd gen Porsche Cayenne. However, the automaker says 80 percent of the parts are unique to the Bentayga, while the power is provided by a twin-turbo W12 engine.
In 2018, Bentley also introduced a V8 Bentayga, with the model getting a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 able to push it from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The unit is also gifted with start-stop technology as well as cylinder deactivation which gets deployed in about 20 milliseconds so the passengers don't notice any difference when maintaining a cruising speed.
